River City String Club andis for violinists & fiddlers ages 6 - 18 who want to play music and have fun! We'll learn new fiddle tunes, movie music, pop tunes, and whatever we want! Alternative styles include learning how to create back up parts, chopping, and percussive techniques. Interactive group learning online gives students the opportunity to perform for their peers (if they want to!), and we will meet up (weather permitting) on the last Friday of the month in the park to play together.
Level 1 - Fridays 1:30 - 2:20 - students should be able to confidently play in A Major and D Major, and be able to read basic music (pitch and rhythm) with occaisional violin fingerings and note names. Variations and advanced parts will be available for students who need more of a challenge. (Approximate level - Suzuki book 1 -2 Perpetual Motion+ or the equivalent.
Level 2 - Fridays 2:30 - 3:20 - this class is for intermediate level students who can play in several keys (up to 3 sharps or flats) and who do not require fingerings or note names on their music. Suitable for a variety of levels - Suzuki books 3-4 or the equivalent.
Level 3 - Fridays at 3:30 - 4:20 - an highly advanced level class for musicians who want to play fun, fast, challenging music! Solid, advanced note reading skills and the ability to play in high positions, in-tune with good tone! By instructor approval only. New students wishing to join string club will be asked to demonstrate their abilities in a short online audition.
Membership in the fiddle club is $140 per 8 week session per family. Siblings, parents, grandparents, grab your fiddles! Primary member must be between the ages of 6 and 18 and family members must live in the same household.
Our goal is to offer this class to all students & families who want to participate. Tuition discounts are available for families whose income is drastically affected by COVID-19. There is a reduced tuition option available at checkout. It's the honor system, no questions asked.
